Welcome to our “Roger’s Distractions” Moving Day® Team Page!
We’ve been walking for 3 years. My Dad was diagnosed in 2014 with Parkinson’s. He has seven kids and all of us have been involved in this walk in one form or another over the years. The first year we wandered and stopped so many times that we were the last group to walk across the finish line. We apologized to the Moving Day support staff with a comment that my Dad has too many “Distractions”. Since then, we are happy to be named “Roger’s Distractions”. Since 2014 we have learned so much about Parkinson’s by joining this walk every year. We’ve even expanded into Chicago with my sister joining the Chicago Moving Day effort with her soon to be Husband and Mother-In-Love. Health continues to challenge my Dad, but is a fighter and a superhero. This year we may not make it through the entire walking route, but we are determined to keep on moving throughout the day. Our movement might be in smaller spurts this year and we are okay with that! We want to show our support for the Parkinson’s Foundation and this Moving Day effort.
In the United States, 50,000-60,000 new cases of Parkinson’s disease (PD) are diagnosed each year, adding to the one million people who currently have PD.
Join our team for the local Parkinson’s Foundation Moving Day® walk, the first nationwide grassroots campaign that spotlights the disease on a national level and gives the chance to raise awareness and funds in our own community. Your support will help us continue improving the quality of care for those living with Parkinson’s disease.
