The Young Parkinsims are participating in Moving Day® DFW, with all proceeds benefiting the National Parkinson Foundation, on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Globe Life Park.

Our Story:

My husband, Jeremy, was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease two years ago at the age of 35. This makes him part of an exclusive group of about 10% of people living with Parkinson Disease as a young person. The symptoms are the same as an older person: issues with motor skills like balance, stiffness, tremor, and slowed movement; issues with cognitive skills like problem solving, multi-tasking, apathy, depression, fatigue (and so much more!)

YOPD symptoms are the same as PD in elderly people, but our lives are very different. Parkinson’s joined our family as we are deep in the throws of building and creating a life– raising kids, working toward retirement goals, helping to care for elderly family members. It is overwhelming.

Sometimes I am hopeful, but other times I am scared. What will our future be like? What can we expect? How I can I take good care of Jeremy? How can I take good care of myself? How do we tell our kids? How do we plan for retirement? The questions just keep coming. National Parkinson Foundation has helped us find many of the answers… This organization has been absolutely vital in helping Jeremy and I find the information we need to make the best decisions possible for living with PD and for our future.

Two ways to help

Please help us raise funds to support NPF’s mission to help every person diagnosed with Parkinson’s live their best possible life now.

First, you can join our team to help us raise funds! Walk with us on Moving Day to support all people living with Parkinson’s Disease. Click the Join our Team Button, and start raising funds.

Or–simply make a donation to our team. $35 provides 6 books for families living with PD filled with life-saving education. $100 provides books plus important care kits for 6 people with PD when hospitalized. The resources go up from there. Every donation makes a difference for people like Jeremy.

So what are you waiting for??? JOIN US!

The event will be a fun-filled, family-friendly event for all ages and abilities. We will be able to enjoy a variety of movement activities yoga, dance, Pilates, Tai Chi, boxing, stretching and much more and celebrate the importance of movement in our lives.

Please consider being a part of my team or sponsoring me, and I encourage you to get your friends, family and coworkers involved.

Thank you for helping me reach my fundraising goal to support the vital work of the National Parkinson Foundation.
