Welcome to the Our Ties to Parkinson’s project.

If you like stylish ties and also want to support the Parkinson’s Foundation, please purchase a custom Vineyard Vines tie by making a donation to our Moving Day Miami Team in the amount of $100.00.  We will then make arrangements to deliver the tie to you in-person or by U.S. Mail.

These custom ties are navy blue and feature the Parkinson’s Foundation “P” in a patterned print, with the foundation’s full logo displayed on the tail of the tie.  They are of the same high quality as Vineyard Vines’ regular ties you can find in their stores, and are handmade in the U.S.A. from 100% imported printed silk with a double wool blend liner.  The tie is 58″ long and 3 1/4″ wide.

You can only purchase these ties by donating to our Moving Day Miami team.  They are not available anywhere else!

Why are we selling these ties?

Jim Morgan and Tim Kolaya are passionate about supporting the Parkinson’s Foundation and assisting the organization in its mission of helping to improve the lives of people living with Parkinson’s disease.  Jim has been living with PD for more than 12 years and, through his regular participation in yoga and other fitness classes, has realized the tremendous benefits that exercise and movement can have in dramatically delaying the onset of symptoms from PD.  Jim has also been actively involved as a volunteer leader for the Parkinson’s Foundation, including as a previous chair of the Moving Day Miami walk and as a member of the foundation’s Development Committee.

Tim’s dad, John, was diagnosed with PD about 8 years ago.  After learning of his dad’s diagnosis, Tim reached out to the Parkinson’s Foundation and asked how he could get involved.  Since then, he has chaired the advisory council for the foundation’s South Florida Chapter and serves along with Jim on the foundation’s Development Committee.

Not only do Jim and Tim both enjoy volunteering and raising funds and awareness for PD, they are both attorneys who often wear ties.  So, when Tim suggested to Jim that they should make custom Parkinson’s Foundation ties to raise funds for the Parkinson’s Foundation, the two quickly got moving with this project!

Your $100.00 will cover the cost of the ties and shipping and handling, and the remaining amount (approximately $55) will be a tax-deductible donation/gift to Moving Day Miami.  Not only will you look good wearing this tie, your donation will help support a great cause and you will be raising awareness every time you wear the tie.  Please purchase a tie, join our Moving Day Miami team, and support the Parkinson’s Foundation!

When making your donation, please specify in the “Personal Note to Walker/Team” section how we should contact you for delivery of the tie, and provide a mailing address if applicable.

What is Moving Day?

In the United States, 50,000-60,000 new cases of Parkinson’s disease (PD) are diagnosed each year, adding to the one million people who currently have PD. All funds raised will go to support Moving Day® Miami, benefiting the Parkinson’s Foundation, on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Maurice A. Ferre Park (formerly Museum Park).

The event will be a fun-filled, family-friendly event for all ages and abilities. We will be able to enjoy a variety of movement activities like yoga, dance, Pilates, Tai Chi, boxing, stretching and much more and celebrate the importance of movement in our lives.

Why Move for Moving Day?

Did you know that someone is diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease every 9 minutes in the United States? No one should have to face Parkinson’s alone. That is why the Parkinson’s Foundation provides a community of support to give people the resources and help they need to live well with Parkinson’s.

Support our mission to help every person diagnosed with Parkinson’s live their best possible life now. Your gift will help us fund better research, better treatment and better lives.
