Join Team Move it for Phil and have fun with us at Moving Day Tampa Bay, A Walk for Parkinson’s Disease on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at USF Marshall Student Center.
In the United States, 50,000-60,000 new cases of Parkinson’s disease (PD) are diagnosed each year, adding to the one million people who currently have PD.
Phil Monaco was one of these cases, and after suffering for many years from this horrible disease that still has no cure, he passed on March 1, 2015. Family and friends of the Monaco family have gathered every year at Moving Day Tampa Bay, A Walk for Parkinson’s Disease and we have walked in memory of Phil. This is a fun event that includes not only a 1K or 5K walk, but also Zumba, Line Dancing, Brain Dancing, Yoga, and Rock Steady Boxing classes. There’s a fun DJ and Tampa Bay Rays and the Tampa Bay Bucs are sponsors too. The event is hosted at USF’s Marshall Student Center, where there is free covered parking and easy access to bathrooms and indoor space in case it is too hot.
Money raised by Team Move if for Phil members gets re-invested right back into the Tampa community to help those suffering from Parkinson’s Disease and their caretakers. Join our team Move it for Phil team for the local Parkinson’s Foundation Moving Day walk, the first nationwide grassroots campaign that spotlights the disease on a national level and gives the chance to raise awareness and funds in our own community. Your support will help us continue improving the quality of care for those living with Parkinson’s disease.
