I'm moving to beat Parkinson's disease!
I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2018 at the age of 50. Shortly after my diagnosis I retired from my job at Wells Fargo and started taking care of my health. I joined the Rock Steady Boxing program in Monticello MN 3 days a week. It was there that I met my fellow Parkies and the best coaches. They have all taught me how to fight this degenerative disease.
This past year I have participated in 3 different clinical trials. One is just an observational study where my movements are tracked by an apple watch (and is still on going). The second was a 10 day study of my on and off periods. And the third is a 70+ week drug trial for drug that will hopefully delay motor progression for those that have they GBA gene variant.
With the support of my family and friends I will continue to battle this disease !!
Moving Day is not just a fundraising walk, its a passionate community united in honoring loved ones with Parkinson's, raising awareness about Parkinson's disease and embracing the power of exercise - proven to help manage Parkinson's symptoms. Your participation (if you want to join my team) and/or donation to Moving Day will support the life-changing work of the Parkinson's Foundation and offer hope to everyone affected by this disease.
Every dollar I raise goes a long way in helping the Parkinson's Foundation fulfill its mission of improving the lives of the one million Americans with Parkinson's. Please support me in this fight by making a donation. Your generosity will help raise awareness, more funding and more understanding of a disease that affects so many of our family and friends.
Together, let's make a life-changing difference!
Thank you!
