Drumming for Parkinson’s class uses the power of group drumming to unite, support, and uplift the participants. We delve into complex rhythms in order to challenge the brain to hear, think and respond in new ways. Accessing West African, Cuban, and other world rhythms, as well as the rhythm of language, we craft separate rhythms into interlocking patterns. Utilizing the drum circle format, participants gain the support of the group as we build in complexity, discovery, and curiosity. In this setting, the drum becomes a unifying tool for wellness and empowerment.
