Why move for Moving Day?
Get out and move with your community. Every dollar raised supports the Parkinson’s Foundation mission to make life better for people affected by Parkinson’s disease (PD). At Moving Day walks across the country, we’re fighting Parkinson’s and celebrating movement — proven to help manage Parkinson’s symptoms — and we’re doing it together.
Funds raised through Moving Day support the Parkinson’s Foundation mission by:
- Delivering quality care to more than 196,700 people living with Parkinson’s
- Funding cutting-edge research to improve treatments and advance toward a cure
- Providing free resources for people living with Parkinson’s and their families
Since 2011, Moving Day events across the country have gathered more than 161,600 participants and raised over $35 million to improve care and advance research toward a cure.
What is Moving Day?
Moving Day, A Walk for Parkinson’s, is an opportunity to join together as a community to honor loved ones, raise awareness, support the life-changing work of the Parkinson’s Foundation and celebrate movement – proven to help manage Parkinson’s symptoms. The Moving Day experience includes PD-friendly fitness demonstrations, information booths, our signature We Move Ceremony, and of course, the Moving Day Walk. Come together with the Parkinson’s community at one of our in-person walks or move for Parkinson’s from home. We know everyone has unique concerns and needs, so we invite you to help us beat Parkinson’s in whichever way makes you feel comfortable and most safe.
Who Do You Move For?
With nearly one million Americans and 10 million people worldwide living with Parkinson’s, the Parkinson’s Foundation makes life better for people with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. No matter why you’re moving – whether it’s for your mother, grandfather, friend or simply because you want to make a difference in the world – Moving Day lets you honor your why at an in-person walk event, or you can move for Parkinson’s from the comfort of your home.
