Experience the Benefits of Rock Climbing at Moving Day Cleveland

Rock climbing serves as an excellent cardiovascular workout, strengthening muscles while promoting brain health. It engages multiple muscle groups and enhances the motor cortex, making it particularly beneficial for individuals with Parkinson’s.

Participants at Moving Day Cleveland are invited to scale our Moving Day wall, made possible by the generous support of Up ENDing Parkinson’s, Shaker Rocks, and On The Rocks Climbing Gym, who will assist in harnessing guests. No prior experience is necessary, as our partners will provide guidance for all active participants.

Mark your calendars for Moving Day Cleveland on Sunday, June 6th, at Brookside Reservation. This event is more than just a fundraising walk; it’s a community gathering honoring those with Parkinson’s. By joining us, you contribute to raising awareness and celebrating the importance of exercise in managing symptoms.

Shaker Rocks climbing gym was founded in 2019 by Shaker Heights residents and lifelong climbers Annie and Spencer Richman, who set out to bring a modern, welcoming climbing experience to the greater Cleveland community. Located in the Van Aken District, Shaker Rocks was built as a space where people of all ages and abilities—from first-time climbers to seasoned athletes—can challenge themselves, connect with others, and have fun.

At its core, Shaker Rocks is about more than climbing. Our mission is to improve quality of life by creating opportunities for joy, movement, and meaningful community connection. We believe in the power of physical activity to support lifelong health and well-being, building strength, resilience, and confidence.

We are proud supporters of local schools and community initiatives, and we are passionate about making fitness accessible, encouraging perseverance, and fostering a supportive environment for everyone who walks through our doors.

At On The Rocks, we strive towards empowering our community to live healthy and more active lives through climbing, fitness and camaraderie. In addition to the 8,000+ square feet of climbing-wall space that includes bouldering, 13 auto belays, top-rope and lead climbing, the gym boasts a variety of equipment for climbing and general fitness, offers a diverse set of classes and programming and provides a great space to host your next party. Come check out On The Rocks, and let us show you the ropes!
