Join Aly Chananie, MS, CCC-SLP in a speech therapy and singing demonstration. You will learn about the importance of speech therapy for people with Parkinson’s disease, opportunities available (especially locally), and why singing can be a fun way to exercise the muscles of voice, speech, swallowing, and cognition. Come ready to use your voice! There will also be a chance to try out speech therapy techniques and sing along with the ParkinSINGS choir.

Alyson Chananie, MS, CCC-SLP, is a Clinical Consultant speech language pathologist at Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute in Edison, NJ. She has had the pleasure of working with people with Parkinson’s disease since 2014 in facilitating rehabilitation and maintenance of speech, voice, language, cognitive, and swallow functioning. Aly is certified in SPEAK OUT! ® and LSVT LOUD ® and leads two weekly SPEAK OUT! ® Speech Therapy Group. She also directs the ParkinSINGS, a choir for people with Parkinson’s disease and Parkinson-plus syndromes.

Aly has served on the Parkinson’s Planning board at JFK and serves on the Parkinson’s Foundation’s Moving Day NJ planning committee. She also completed the Parkinson’s Foundation’s Team Training to enhance her knowledge base and support implementation of an interdisciplinary team approach to treatment for people with PD.

Moving Day has raised nearly $45 million and brought more than 186,000 participants together.
