Moving Day Baltimore is almost here on the lovely University of Maryland Baltimore County campus! Meet Larry- one of our top team captains of Moving Day Baltimore. Larry brings his incredible outlook and humor as team captain for Schaberg Family and Friends. Larry is a huge supporter of Moving Day, read on to hear his story.
“After being diagnosed, I requested materials from the Parkinson’s Foundation. I also saw the work the Foundation was doing, including research for a cure. I wanted to give back to the Parkinson’s Foundation for the support they gave to me as well as others with Parkinson’s and their caregivers, raise awareness of the Foundation and how they help those with Parkinson’s. My family and I enjoyed our time together at the 2025 walk and with others at the walk and decided to again this year create a team. To me I am doing my part in supporting the Foundation and all it does for my family and others even though Parkinson’s has limited a lot of my abilities.
Upon being diagnosed I requested materials from the Parkinson’s Foundation, like the Hospital Safety Guide. At the time I did not realize how beneficial it was. We laminated the cards and put one in my car and the other in a travel bag. The guide was instrumental when I had to go in to get my heart checked and they discovered I needed a stent. Because of the Hospital Safety Guide, I took a travel bag and put all my meds in it. I also had the card, which outlines what we can and cannot have for medication. As a result of reading the guide, I was able to take my Parkinson’s meds on time every time while I was there, as long as I showed the nurse what I was taking and when I was taking it. I have also added the medication information from the guide into my apple health and medical alert bracelet.”
