What to Expect at Moving Day

Participants are invited to put on their Moving Day gear and join us in person at Moving Day Orange County. This year’s event will put our community’s energy on full display as we celebrate movement together.

Moving Day is more than just a walk! Bring your friends and family to exercise, learn about Parkinson’s resources, take part in our signature We Move Ceremony, and, of course, enjoy the Moving Day Walk. You don’t want to miss the inspiring day we have planned for you!

Moving Day will take place rain or shine. Check the weather forecast to prepare accordingly. Should conditions warrant any change, we will announce it via email and the Moving Day website.

Location & Parking

Moving Day Orange County will take place at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, located at 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa, CA 92626. There will be directional signage as you approach the parking area.

PARKING AT SEGERSTROM – $15 (cash or card)
Parking at the Segerstrom Center’s Center Tower Parking Structure is the closest and most convenient place to park. Segerstrom is located at 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa, 92626. Their lot can be accessed from either Town Center Drive via Bristol or Park Center Drive via Sunflower (see the black star on map below), and the walk from the structure to the event site is very short.

As you enter from those streets you will see a large circular fountain, you may also drop anyone off here before you park if you would like (see the blue star on map).

This is the parking location we most recommend. It is $15, which can be paid via cash or card.

FREE PARKING
If you prefer to not pay for parking, we have secured parking lot space at South Coast Plaza. Moving Day participants are only permitted to park in the lot indicated with the red star on the map below – the lot at the corner of Bristol and Sunflower, in the parking spaces closest to Sunflower. To get to the event site from this lot, you will walk down Bristol, and turn left on Town Center Drive. This is about a quarter mile walk. Please walk carefully and be cautious of passing traffic. (If questioned by any South Costa Plaza security staff, this parking was approved by Natasha).

Check-In/Registration

Check-in begins at 8:45 am. Visit the check-in/registration area to grab your event program, drop off donations and pick up your Moving Day Rewards if you’ve earned Moving Day fundraising rewards. We highly encourage online donations before the event. Don’t forget that all participants must register at MovingDayOrangeCounty.org beforehand to avoid on-site registration paperwork.

Schedule of Events

8:45 am: Registration/Check-In opens and stays open until walk start
9:00 am: Moving Day activities begin
9:20 am: We Move demonstrations begin at the Moving Day Stage
10:10 am: We Move Ceremony begins, followed by the Moving Day Walk

Walk Route

The Moving Day walk is for participants of all ages and all abilities. The full walk is 2 laps around and through the Segerstrom outdoor space, which is just under 3 miles. There is a short-cut-off option at a half mile, and doing one lap is just over 1 mile. Walkers can participate in as much as they desire.

Restrooms

Restrooms will be available on-site in the plaza.

Refreshments

Complimentary bottled water and a small snacks will be available onsite for all event participants, courtesy of Target, our in-kind donor. If desired, additional food may be purchased from the Segerstrom Center Café, which is located in the plaza and opens at 11:30 am.

Pets

Friendly dogs are allowed if they are kept on a leash for the entire event and cleaned up after. A waiver must be signed at the Registration/Check-In Tent.

Donations

Drop off cash and check donations at the check-in/registration area. Credit card donations can be made online or through the Parkinson’s Moving Day App. You can also mail check donations to the provided address, ensuring to include a note with the participant’s name for proper credit.

Moving Day Rewards

Registered participants who raise $100 or more will receive an exclusive Moving Day T-shirt. More details about additional Moving Day Rewards can be found here. T-shirts and other rewards will be available for pick-up on the event day at the Rewards Tent, except for the All-Star Mover Zip-Up Hoodie Jacket, which will be shipped after the event to qualifying participants.
