Travel Notice, Leave Earlier than planned. Caltrans has scheduled a full closure of all northbound lanes of Business 80 Capital City Freeway (between N Street and Exposition Blvd) beginning Friday night (May 29) through early Sunday morning (May 31), along with multiple ramp closures in the area.

What to Expect at Moving Day

Get ready for a meaningful and energizing experience:

  • Dress for the day: Wear comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather.
  • Explore activities: Enjoy movement sessions, connect with local Parkinson’s resources and take part in the We Move Ceremony before the walk begins.
  • Join the walk: Celebrate community and movement as we come together on event day.

Moving Day takes place rain or shine. Please check the forecast and plan accordingly. If weather-related changes occur, we’ll share updates by email, text and on the Moving Day website.

Location: Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park

Location & Parking

The event will be held at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park, located at 2701 L St, Sacramento, CA 95816. Follow posted directional signage. Parking for free around Sutter’s Fort State Park can be found in area neighborhoods. Please carpool if possible. Sutter Garage is a 3-minute walk to Sutter’s Fort State Park. Cost: $4 per hour/$2 per 30 minutes. Sutter Parking Garage, 1399-1317 27th St, Sacramento, CA 95816

The event will be at the corner of L Street and 26th Street. There will be a drop-off area designated at this corner.

Check-In / Registration

Check-in opens at 9:00 AM. Stop by the registration area to pick up your event program, drop off donations and collect your Moving Day Rewards card if eligible.

We strongly recommend making donations online before event day. All participants must be registered in advance at movingdaysacramento.org

You can also help us prepare by downloading the Fundraise for Parkinson’s App before event day to stay up to date with day of event information, and easy communication with your team.

Schedule of Events

9:00 am – Registration Opens. Explore resources, enjoy activities, connect with the community
9:30 am – Join on-stage demos
9:55 am – We Move Ceremony
10:15 am – Moving Day Walk Begins
11:30 am – Final Awards at the We Move Stage

New this year: Visit the Care Partner Tent, the Advocacy Center in the Parkinson’s Resource Tent, stop by the Thirsty Dog Station, enjoy music and dance demonstrations, and bring the kids for balloon animals and face painting in the Kids’ Zone.

Walk Route

Moving Day offers options for all ages and abilities, including a shortcut route and a 5K route.

Restrooms

Restrooms will be available on the walk route and at the site.

Refreshments

Bottled water and light refreshments will be available on-site.

Pets

Pets are welcome on a leash.

Donations

Cash and check donations can be dropped off at the check-in area. Credit card donations may be made online or through the Fundraise for Parkinson’s App.

Moving Day Rewards

Participants who raise $100 or more receive an exclusive Moving Day T-shirt. Additional rewards are available at higher levels. T-shirts and rewards may be picked up at the Rewards Tent.

Participants who raise $1,000 or more will receive the All-Star Mover Full Zip Lightweight Jacket via mail after the event.
