What to Expect at Moving Day 

While Moving Day is hosted in over 50 cities nationwide, this will be our first in The Villages, FL! Moving Day is more than just a walk! Bring your friends and family to exercise, learn about Parkinson’s resources, take part in our signature We Move Ceremony, and, of course, enjoy the Moving Day Walk. You don’t want to miss the inspiring day we have planned for you! 

Weather 

Moving Day The Villages, FL will take place rain or shine. Check the weather forecast to prepare accordingly. Should conditions warrant any change, we will announce it via email and the Moving Day website. 

Registration 

We ask that everyone who attends Moving Day register at MovingDayTheVillagesFL.org before the event, but walkers can register at the event. When you arrive, pick up your walk bib, I Move Ribbon, and Moving Day Passport at check in.

Program & Activities 

To begin the walk, you’ll experience a powerful We Move Ceremony at 10:45 am that will unite us in our commitment to move against Parkinson’s. Every registered participant will get an I Move Ribbon, representing your connection to Parkinson’s disease. You can use the ribbon during the ceremony and the We Move Exercises on the Moving Day Stage.

Schedule of Events 

• 9:00 am: Venue gates open for participants to enter parking lot
• 9:30 am: Registration/check-in tent opens
• 10:00 am: Moving Day activities begin & sponsor/resource booths are open
• 10:10 – 10:45 am: We Move exercise demos at the Moving Day Stage:
• Zumba (10:10)
• Power With Parkinson’s (10:20)
• Rock Steady Boxing (10:30)
• Classical Stretch (10:40)
• 10:30 am: Venue gates close to secure walk route.
• 10:45 am: We Move Ceremony begins
• 11:00 am: Moving Day Walk

Location & Parking 

Moving Day The Villages, FL will take place at The Villages Polo Club, located at 700 Buena Vista Blvd, The Villages, FL 32162. Parking is free and venue staff will direct you as you approach the parking area.

The entry gates open at 9am for walkers to enter the parking lot. Any walkers arriving prior to 9am must wait to enter the venue.

The Polo Club requires their gates to close 30 minutes before the walk starts and while walkers are on the route. To ensure the safety of all walkers, gates will close for entry at approximately 10:30am. The road used to access the Polo Club parking lot is the same road used for the walk route.

In order to avoid attendees parking outside of the venue grounds, as their cars would be towed by the other property owners (including Saddlebrook Softball Complex), attendees are unable to walk through the venue gates and must arrive by car or golf cart and park on property. Please ensure you arrive prior to 10:30am in order to park on property. The Parkinson’s Foundation does not have the authority to make exceptions for late participants who are turned away by venue staff.

Walk Route 

The Moving Day walk is for participants of all ages and all abilities. The walk is one mile in length, with a half-mile option for those wishing to stop at the stadium. The full route can also be completed twice for those seeking a more challenging exercise.

The walk route is shaded and accessible to wheelchairs and walkers. If you are physically unable to complete the walk route and wish to ride in your golf cart to complete the walk, please email committee member Rose Lang at relrx1@aol.com to obtain a special parking pass. Participants completing the walk using golf carts will lead the group of walkers and must be parked before 10:30am.

Health & Safety  

Our priority is the safety of all participants, volunteers, sponsors, vendors and staff. First aid will be available at the Registration Tent.

Restrooms 

Restrooms will be available on site in the grandstands/concession building and will be marked by directional signage.

Refreshments 

Bottled water and granola bars will be available onsite. 

Pets 

Well-behaved dogs are allowed on site but must be on a leash at all times.

These companies will have exhibit tables at this event for attendees to learn about local and national resources, treatments, and services. View them HERE. Additional exhibitors will be in attendance.

Donations 

Drop off cash and check donations at the check-in/registration area. Credit card donations can be made online or through the Parkinson’s Moving Day App. You can also mail check donations to the provided address, ensuring to include a note with the participant’s name for proper credit.

Moving Day Rewards  

Registered participants that raise $100 or more will receive an exclusive Moving Day T-shirt. More details about additional Moving Day Rewards can be found here. T-Shirts and other rewards will be available for pick-up on the event day at the Rewards Tent, except for the All Star Mover Zip-Up Hoodie Jacket, which will be shipped after the event to qualifying participants.

Volunteers & Vendors

Please see the event map to find the location of volunteer check-in and volunteer/vendor parking. All volunteers & vendors will enter through the North entrance. Open volunteer shifts are available here.

All vendors must bring wagons or dollies to transport materials from their cars, as they cannot park right next to the exhibit area.
